When a prospect checks the person behind a connection request or comment, an identity verification gives them one more detail to check. LinkedIn offers free verification through approved partners, with different options depending on your country.

Start with the option LinkedIn offers you.
Review the verification methods available on your own profile. Check the current provider requirements before preparing an ID or starting the process. Availability depends on your location and documents. LinkedIn explains the verification options.
Persona: check the accepted ID for your country
Persona is available in many countries. Its current country table lists accepted documents, which often include a passport with an NFC chip. Some countries support other government IDs. Use that table rather than assuming every national ID is accepted.
The process runs in the LinkedIn mobile app. Depending on the document, you photograph the ID, scan its chip and take a selfie. Review the sharing request and complete the final confirmation so the verification is added to LinkedIn. Check Persona eligibility and requirements.
CLEAR: an option in the United States, Canada and Mexico
CLEAR supports eligible members in these three countries. You need an accepted government ID and a personal phone number. The verification takes place in the LinkedIn mobile app.
A free CLEAR account is part of this route. You do not need paid airport membership. Complete the identity check and the final sharing confirmation. Check CLEAR’s LinkedIn requirements.
DigiLocker: an option for eligible members in India
DigiLocker requires an eligible account with Aadhaar linked, a matching profile name and a live selfie. LinkedIn requires a profile location and current connection in India, and a minimum age of 18.
Use the LinkedIn mobile app or a supported Android mobile browser. Review what you consent to share before continuing. Check the DigiLocker requirements.
Make the name match before you start
Check that your LinkedIn name matches the name on the credential you will use, including any other language profile. If you use a different professional name, read the provider’s name matching guidance rather than repeatedly trying the same submission.
Know what becomes public
Other LinkedIn members can see the verification. Your ID document is not displayed on your profile, although LinkedIn may show its issuing country. Review the provider’s data and consent information before continuing. Adding a verification is optional, and you can remove it in LinkedIn’s settings.

Where to start identity verification in LinkedIn
On desktop
Open your LinkedIn profile and find the verification options under Resources, About this profile or About this member. Choose Verify now. If the identity route asks you to use your phone, scan the QR code and continue there.
In the mobile app
Open your profile and its verification options, then choose the identity method offered. Follow that provider’s document, selfie and consent instructions. Complete the final sharing confirmation when requested.
Labels can differ by device and account. You can manage or remove existing verifications under Settings & Privacy, Account preferences, Verifications.
Before you move on
- You checked eligibility and accepted documents for your provider.
- Your profile name matches the credential, or you followed the provider’s name guidance.
- The verification details show the identity check you completed.
